On the first Monday in January, Dr. Suter was in Lamont, volunteering with the One-Sight Vision Van. She and other volunteer doctors in the community, along with the One-Sight staff, examined 80 children from Arvin, Lamont, and Grimmway schools. Glasses were provided for 78 of those children. While it is not as good as an in-office vision evaluation, many of these children had been going without glasses for months or years due to financial constraints, so it was definitely a “feel good’ day for the volunteer doctors and staff. The Vision Van made visits during the rest of the week to Wingland, Voorhies, Castle, and Pioneer schools, with similar numbers served at each school.
