On Friday March 14, 2014 the Kern Autism Network held it’s annual conference at Hodel’s restaurant in Bakersfield, California. Hundreds of people with autism spectrum disorders, families, and professionals came out to hear about changes to the DSM-5 and to gain insight into help with relationships impacted by Autism. Numerous vendors were on hand with information on services for people on the Autism spectrum. From our office, were Kay Kapler and Shari Stamps with information about vision examinations and visual processing assessments. Children and adults on the autism spectrum are more likely to have visual deficits including eye turns and visual spatial difficulties, which can be treated. It was a fun day and there was a lot of good information shared. We are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones at next year’s conference.
